Not everyone wants extra crispy food all the time. Soft-textured vegetables, lightly cooked fish, or just-done chicken all have their place. Our crispiness adjuster lets you slide from Soft all the way to Extra Crispy and get the exact temperature and time adjustments for your chosen food.
The adjustments are based on the core principle: higher temperature and longer time = more crispiness. Each level adjusts both temperature and time proportionally to achieve the desired texture without burning or undercooking.
Moisture is the enemy of crispiness. Before placing any food in the air fryer, pat it dry thoroughly with kitchen paper. This is especially important for marinated foods — let excess marinade drip off, and if possible, air-dry the food in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking.
A very light coating of oil on the food surface dramatically improves browning and crispiness. Use a pump spray for an even, thin coating — not a pour. Even oil-free foods like frozen fries benefit from a tiny spray.
For Extra Crispy results especially, a single layer with space between pieces is non-negotiable. Stacked food steams rather than crisps. Do multiple smaller batches if needed.
At Extra Crispy settings, flipping or shaking halfway through is more important than usual to prevent the bottom from over-browning while the top is still soft.
