Most Popular Air Fryer Ingredients

🍗 Chicken

Chicken is the most popular air fryer ingredient by far. Tenders, wings, schnitzel, thighs — the air fryer produces consistently golden, crispy chicken in a fraction of the oven time. Boneless pieces work best; bone-in pieces need slightly longer.

🥔 Potatoes

From classic french fries to wedges, hasselback potatoes, and home fries, potatoes are the air fryer's best friend. Cut into fries, toss lightly in oil and season well. For extra crispy fries, soak in cold water for 30 minutes and dry completely before cooking.

🐟 Fish

Fish fillets cook beautifully in an air fryer — crispy coating, moist interior, done in 10–14 minutes. Works especially well for white fish like cod and for salmon. Coat in seasoned flour or breadcrumbs for the best result.

🥦 Broccoli & Vegetables

Air fryer vegetables develop a wonderful caramelised, slightly charred character that steaming or boiling cannot replicate. Toss in olive oil, garlic powder and sea salt, cook at 190–200°C for 8–12 minutes depending on the vegetable.

Pro Tip: Cheese — especially halloumi — is one of the best surprises in an air fryer. Halloumi fries at 200°C for 8 minutes become beautifully golden and slightly crispy on the outside with a soft, squeaky interior.
QWhat are the best things to cook in an air fryer?
The best air fryer foods are those that benefit from dry, crispy heat: fries, chicken wings and tenders, fish fillets, sausages, vegetables, nuggets, onion rings, spring rolls, and bacon. Foods that need moisture or a wet environment (soups, casseroles, steamed items) are less suited.
QCan you cook eggs in an air fryer?
Yes. Hard-boiled eggs cook well at 130°C for 15–16 minutes with no water needed. Scotch eggs are an air fryer favourite — the coating crisps perfectly. You can also cook fried eggs in a small oven-safe dish.
